Oral history interview with Stephan Swetlick, 1984 July 10.

Interview with Stephan Swetlick concerning his experiences as a farmer-rancher in Robstown, Texas. Swetlick discusses his family background, his farming and social activities near Hillje, Texas, preserving meat, the family farm auction in 1924, his employment as a cotton seed culler operator in Robstown in 1925, the establishment of a meat delivery route in 1925, and the operation of a cafe. He also talks about leasing a farm in 1926, purchasing the farm in 1928, clearing 1,400 acres of rented farm land near Robstown, land deals in the 1930s, the sale of farm produce, cotton and maize production, as well as the distribution of land to his children, cattle and hog raising, farm equipment, and his civic activities.
